Description of service

My husband's small hobby business sales have grown wonderfully with word of mouth referrals, but this past year we decided to try and up the ante some by buying a very small yellow page ad in our small local phone book. The ad was extremely small, the smallest one we could buy with a border around it and just our name, address and phone numbers. The $600 breaks down into $50 per month for 12 months.

Review of Service

$600 is a chunk of change to most individuals, and even though this is for a small business, it's still quite a bit of money for us as well. I consider us lucky in that a lot of people in much larger towns and communities pay WAY more than us. We live in a very rural area with a very scattered population, so luckily our yellow page prices were extremely low.

Since we had a small very basic ad, I can't comment on how their graphics are in their advertising but I do know that if you used a particular graphic or logo in any other advertising medium, they can use the exact same in your yellow page advertising.

This year we skipped the yellow page advertising, but I'm thinking we might try it again next year, with just a plain name and numbers type ad.

Tips

The salespeople are generally decent, but remember that most of these people work off commissions, so they're gonna try their best to sell you a bigger ad than what you ask for.
