the Price of an Ob/Gyn

I went into see the ob/gyn for a routine yearly physical. She asked a lot of personal lifestyle questions such as sexual history, drinking habits, smoking habits, exercise habits, family dynamics and family medical history.

After asking all these questions she stepped out and I was asked to disrobe and put on a hospital gown. Once the ob/gyn came back she listen to my heart, checked my reflexes. She did a general skin check looking for signs of skin cancer. She checked the thyroid glad by feeling it through the neck. She also preformed a vaginal exam with a pap smear and did a breast health check.

The ob/gyn was extremely kind and did a very nice job of putting me at ease in what is kind of an uncomfortable and slightly embarrassing situation. I thought she had been much more through than my previous ob/gyn as far as all the questions and the extended family medical history.

I found that if you have insurance that pays for an ob/gyn yearly heath check that it is extremely important to find out exactly how often they will pay for these type of services. According to the clinics staff coming in even one day early can disqualify the exam as a covered expense.
