Description of service

My business colleague and I took a taxi from a downtown restaurant to the airport just before noon on a weekday. The airport is located far from downtown and there is no flat fee rate for cabs going to the aiport, so we were charged a mileage rate plus a fee for the additional passenger. The $54 that we paid included a tip of $4.50.

Review of Service

There was nothing special about the taxi driver or the ride to the airport, which was uneventful. The driver put our bags in the trunk at the hotel and didn't really talk to us much during the trip, even though we tried to ask him a few questions along the way just to pass the time. He was also forgetful, as we had to tell him twice and then point to the airline that we were flying. The airport is just so far away that it is hard to enjoy the ride as you watch the meter going up. The taxi was clean and there was no smoking allowed. Also, the driver was not in much of a hurry so it took a bit longer than we expected. The price is not reasonable, but it is set by the city and not by the driver, so it is unfair to blame him for the distance and cost.

Tips

Definitely avoid taxis to/from the airport in Denver because it is so far and costly. Use the shuttle service or even the Skyride bus system which makes lots of stops but is much cheaper and is still comfortable.
