Description of service
Leaving the hotel in Waikiki for the Honolulu airport with a few pieces of luggage I decided to take the taxi. Taxis were waiting right in front of the hotel and my taxi dropped me off in front of the terminal I was flying out off. It is particularly helpful to take taxi when you have a lot of luggage, because you get help with loading and unloading, and you just have less stress. Taxi of course is also faster. You just might want to take that last swim before departure, so taking the taxi might afford a little extra time. The amount of $32 was the fare only. There was a $5 tip for the driver on top of that. The total trip is about 10 miles.
Review of Service
The service was excellent. The driver was friendly, and chatted with us on the way to the airport, but was not intrusive. He took the freeway, which was the faster way to our destination. I was quite happy with the experience.
Tips
Since people are continually leaving the hotel for the airport, you might be able to share the taxi with another passenger. If that is not a problem, you could save 50% on the fare. There are also buses leaving for the airport, but you can not carry luggage on the bus, and of course it will take you much longer to get there. The price though is only $2 per person, one way.
