the Price of Satellite Cable TV

We have satellite service with a major carrier here in Mobile that offers local, Hd, PPV and regular satellite service. We have the total package getting about 400 or more channels in 5 different rooms in our house. All systems were included in our agreement for free with a two year service contract. They also came out and installed the system for free for us. Running all the cables from attic to each room and placing the satellite dish on the house as well.

The service has been ok. Many of the channels play the same thing over and over and there are a lot of info commercials on different channels at the same time. Our biggest complaint is when the wind blows hard the service seems to go out easy and if it storms we lose the signal as well. We have children so the nice thing about the service is being able to block certain channels we feel are not age appropriate in separate rooms. We can with the ease of entering a code watch a show that is blocked and not have to worry about the kids seeing something we don't want them to.

We had a different satellite company already installed in our house that we were discontinuing service with. When the new company came out instead of replacing or using the same cables and wires they ran all new ones and left all the old ones in place as well. This ended up being a huge mess in our attic space and we had to get someone to come in and fix it, so we would not mess up any thing.

Make sure the person installing the system has experience in what they are doing. It cost us extra to fix the mess in the attic when they could have just used or ran the cables in the same place as the company before them.
