the Price of a Day of After School Daycare

When my normal sitter/daycare provider was unavailable, I still needed someone to pick up my children from school and watch them until my husband got off work. For $20 a local daycare facility (church run) picked my kids up from their respective schools, took them back to the daycare center, gave them snacks, and assisted them with part of their homework.

I was very pleased that they helped my children with their homework and gave them a snack until my husband was able to swing by and pick them up. Although my kids think they're too old for sitters, much less a "daycare", they were pleasantly surprised as well by the number of children their age that were also at the facility. Although I definitely cannot afford this on a long term basis, I will use them again should I ever be faced with an emergency situation.

I learned the hard way that you shouldn't wait until you have a last minute, emergency situation to figure out what you would do if you needed another sitter or daycare provider. Although I now know who to use in such a situation, I would advise everyone to research potential providers now and not wait until the last minute.
