Description of service

$500 is the cost for a year (March through October) of organic produce, with twice monthly pickup. The farm is actually over an hour away from me, though, so I pay a co-worker that also participates an extra $20 biweekly if she will have her husband also pick mine up and then bring it with her to work.

Review of Service

Home grown produce is always better tasting to me and my family than the variety often found in our local grocery store. Although we could probably buy it cheaper, or grow it ourselves, this is the easiest for us. We always have a steady supply of in-season veggies (and fruits) and have plenty of extras to share with family members. We have learned how to prepare a lot of new dishes since participating in this has exposed us to things we have never experienced before. Since we are paying a nice sum for it, we feel obligated to try and use as much as we can. We do not want to waste any of it.

Tips

If, as I am, you are quite a drive from the participating farm, see if anyone in your community or extended friendship participates. Perhaps you could trade off with someone on going and picking up the produce.
