Description of service
My husband and I wanted to do something nice for our anniversary, so we went to a spa that had couples packages. The package that we chose included a half hour long warm mud bath, 15 minutes in a "mineral jacuzzi" and a hot towel wrap prior to the massage. After all of that, we were led to a private room and put side-by-side on separate tables. We each received a massage from our own masseuse with fragrant body oils. Some of the fee for this service was for the tip - we each tipped our masseuse $20. Gratuities are definitely expected for massages.
Review of Service
Overall, the couples massage was a great experience. It was amazing to be able to relax with a partner in that way, and to both get pampered. The extras that came with our package (the mud bath, the jacuzzi, etc.) were less exciting than the massage itself. I think it can be weird for people to be touched by a stranger, even during a massage, so it can be helpful to have your partner there next to you. It was a great anniversary activity.
Tips
Even though a half hour massage sounds like a long time, go for the full hour. You'd be amazed at how quickly that hour passes when you're that relaxed. Also, be sure that you have cash on you to tip your masseuses, even if you plan on paying by credit cards.
