the Price of a Lawyer for a Traffic Ticket

Last summer when I was coming out of the Lincoln tunnel I got a ticket for a making an illegal U-turn in NJ. Very costly ticket in this state. I went 30 days passed the date because I thought I could just pay it, turns out they turn it in after 30 days and issue a warrant.

I had to go to the precint and actually take a picture and post my bail. I wasn't actually arrested but it was bizarre as I have never been arrested. I felt like a criminal for a U-turn. I hired an attorney close by. It really takes an attny to get less points if any on your license. I hired someone from the Newark area, he was great. I had to pay him, the ticket fee and various court costs. The whole thing was about $800.

The service was great, he made me feel comfortable and I think it was better to have a lawyer present than to fight the ticket on my own.

Although you can just pay the fine and accept the points your car insurance prices will go up in the long run. Probably better to avoid the headache and hire an attorney, especially if you make a U-turn in NJ.
