the Price of a Lawyer for a Traffic Ticket

A lawyer was hired to represent me in front of the D.A. and bargain a deal to lower the ticket, and to represent me in front of the judge on the court date.

This particular lawyer did a large amount of work for a very reasonable price. The total came to $110, $10 for the DMV abstract and $100 for his services. Included in his services was meeting with the District Attorney and bargaining a deal to reduce the ticket to a non moving violation. Also he accompanied me to my court date and presented the deal that was negotiated with the District Attorney to the judge. The judge accepted the deal and a fine was imposed. The fine was rather high so the attorney also bargained with the judge, stating that I was a divorced single mother and that a $550 fine for a non moving violation would severely impact my budget. After some consideration the judge agreed and reduced the fine to $210. I think for the amount of work was done this was a very reasonable price for a good service.

When shopping for a lawyer, don't just pick one out of a phone book and go with them. Call many and ask for quotes and also what is included in that price.
