the Price of a Dental Cleaning and Check-up

The service was a full dental exam with x-rays, 18 films (I believe this is standard practice) and a typical 6 month cleaning. This also included a credit towards future dental work of $100 and a consultation with the dentist regarding any dental work that needed to be done or additional concerns.

The service was excellent. At first I was apprehensive because I found this dentist through an online search in my zip code. After calling several places and getting quotes as high as $190 for the same service, I found this office. I don't have insurance so anything over $100 was out of the question. This office happened to be running a special for patients that included both the cleaning and exam for a very low price. Lower than I had found through my phone calls for even one of the services. The hygienist was very knowledgeable, the receptionist was friendly, and the dentist gave a full consultation. There was virtually no sales push for extras such as teeth whitening, which I have encountered at other dentist offices. However, if I had questions regarding any additional services, the staff was very helpful in fully explaining the benefits, cost, and risks involved.

My suggestion is to make as many phone calls as necessary to find the best price. First I had called the Dentist office that I drive by on my way to work every day, which happened to charge the highest price. But instead of making the appointment out of convenience, I made as many calls as it took to find the best value. Don't pay extra for convenience if you don't have to!!
