the Price of LASIK Surgery

I got LASIK surgery to correct my imperfect vision. The cost of the initial consultation, surgery and follow up consultation was $3000.

I had a great doctor who did a wonderful job explaining the ins and outs of the surgery. He was careful to make sure that I understood that while it was a fairly quick surgery it was still a surgery and complications were involved. His bedside manner was wonderful. He made me feel very important and as though he cared personally about the outcome of my surgery. The day I showed up he did a good job putting me at ease as his constant reminders that complications were possible had made me pretty nervous. Once it was over everything had gone well. I came back for a follow up consultation and he said everything looked fine. However, I have noticed a dramatic increase in severe headaches since I had LASIK done. He told me this was a possible side affect so I certainly don't blame him but it does make me wonder if the surgery was the best for me.

If you find yourself with a doctor who sugarcoats and tries to gloss over the potential complications you should go elsewhere. A doctor who is confident of his skills will not feel the need to mislead you.
