the Cost of In Vitro Fertilization

I had decided to see an infertility specialist after trying to conceive for a little over a year. The specialist recommended In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) for my husband and I. The IVF started off with taking hormones orally for ten days before egg retrieval. My husband then had to provide a semen sample and we had to wait a few days for fertilization before the transfer. We were successful after our second attempt at IVF and became pregnant with twin girls. We paid a total of $8000 for visits, ultra sounds and lab fees.

We had a wonderful doctor who was supportive and answered all of our questions about the whole process. It was a very emotional process, but our doctor helped to guide us through it all. My daughters are healthy and I am completely satisfied with the results of the In Vitro Fertilization treatment. I highly recommend it to other couples who are having difficulties conceiving.

Don't give up hope! I was crushed once the first transfer was not successful, but the cost of the treatment had covered up to three attempts. I was ecstatic the moment I found out I was pregnant. I did find a lot of support online in IVF forums. I had most of my questions answered by my doctor and nurses, but having another form of support always helps.
