Description of service

Tutoring service provided by a math teacher at our home. Cost was for a 50 minute session. Service included individualized attention and instruction at the pace our son required. Typically, one session per week is the norm but this can increase during times leading up to important tests.

Review of Service

The service provided by our tutor is of good quality. She has a good demeanor and our son feels comfortable working with her. We feel the individualized attention is superior to that which is received at classroom style after-school tutoring locales. Additionally, the convenience of in home service eliminates driving time both ways as well as ever more expensive gas. After beginning sessions with the tutor our son improved in trigonometry from a C- to a solid B.

Tips

It is important to find a tutor with whom your child enjoys working. If your child is not comfortable with the given tutor then the results will reflect as such. We are beginning to explore the world of online tutoring. We did one test session and the given site we tried provided a tutor with a very difficult accent. We decided not to go forward with that site, but have heard others do not present such obstacles. The pricing is substantially reduced compared to the $20 per fifty minute session we currently pay, but the most important thing is results. We suggest you explore all avenues and select the one that best suits your child.
