Description of service

The service that I received was instruction in acrylic painting for those who have had previous experience with it but would like to enhance their skills as well as gain some new skills and learn about art in general. The class offered a chance to improve as an artist all around. The class was held two nights a week, I believe Tuesdays and Thursdays a couple of hours a night for 12 weeks and was well worth it. We were given the chance to build our own canvasses of all difference sizes and were encouraged to think outside the box and use other materials for making canvasses, such as wood, glass, shoe boxes, and many other assorted things. We were charged a bases price for the class itself which was approximately $60, but then were asked to purchase an art book which was actually extremely interesting and quite helpful. We were asked to pay for other materials including wood and canvas for our canvases, our own paint in at least the primary colors, gesso for making our canvases, gloss medium for finishing up our products, and we were also asked to bring in various other things to experiment with and make artwork with.

Review of Service

I believe that the quality of service for the price was impeccable. We were given the opportunity to enhance our creativity in many ways, from taking walks and noticing that art is everywhere and being given the chance to express ourselves freely as well as holding guided critiques to let us know what could be improved upon. The instructor did a wonderful job of bringing the class together which was very helpful in expressing oneself artistically. The instructor was wonderful and took the time to teach us new things. The instructor actually taught me a technique which is amazing and I have gotten so many compliments on, so I think that is priceless. The instructor knew the material covered and I believe held a PhD in Art. The materials we were asked to supply were definitely not overwhelming and we were given some leeway and when we did not have them, the instructor provided us with many of the things we needed. I would absolutely recommend this class at this price to anyone who is interested in art, whether they are talented or not, it is $150>/< very well spent and I believe that the instruction was as good or better than higher priced classes.

Tips

I would advise anyone who wishes to take any type of artistic class to be ready to not be afraid to express themselves creatively because the more creative you allow yourself to be, the more fun it is and the happier you will be with the finished product. I would also suggest shopping around for reputable art classes, because it definitely is possible to find quality classes at a low price, as I did. Be ready to learn all types of artwork and to critique others work and have your own critiqued, as this is a part of any art class or lesson or activity that I have ever participated in. I would also suggest taking an art class with a friend as that is what I did for the first phase of this acrylic painting class and it was a wonderful way to begin my artistic career. I did, however, take the second phase of this art class (the one at hand) without a friend, and was able to make many talented artistic friends who were able to teach me many things. I didn't know much about what I was getting into before this experience but I was pleasantly surprised and I think that it was wonderful to be able to have the opportunity to make my own canvases.
