Description of service

Seasonal youth sports. There are separate teams for girls and boys of K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade. My son (who is a 6th-grader) participated in winter basketball. The $10 registration fee covered the cost of a team T-shirt to wear at games and the cost of hiring a referee. Kids met twice a week after school to practice and played games on Saturdays.

Review of Service

I live in a small town, so everybody pretty much knows and looks out for each other, which really helps with transportation. Transportation to and from practices was not provided, so there was quite a bit of carpooling. The coaches for the teams were mostly parents or Park and Rec staff, so not the best coaching, but we were all in this just for fun in the first place. Some coaches were more reliable than others in terms of being fair to kids or letting people know schedules.

Tips

Contact your city or whatever you go through, and try to find out who would be coaching the team your child will be on. The coach really makes the difference between a great time and kind of a drag.
