the Price of Heating Repair

We recently moved into a new home. The furnace worked at the time of inspection but when the weather started getting colder it wouldn't turn on. We looked in the phone book and called around until we found the one that could come the fastest. We were nervous about approaching cold weather and were not interested in keeping warm by space heaters and blankets piled upon blankets. The repairman arrived the next day. He went into the furnace room. Shined his flashlight into the furnace. He then took a small brush and brushed the dust off of the ignitor. The furnace then started right up. He wrote out a bill for $75 dollars even and left. He was here for a total of 10 minutes.

I felt that $75 was a bit high for the work that was done and the time that the repairman was here. I chalked it up to everyone needs to make a living. However, the very next day the furnace one again wouldn't light up. I called once again and the sent someone out the next day. He once again took a brush to the small part it started up and he left. Miraculously it worked fine the rest of the winter. We were not charged for the second service visit. I was happy about that!

Ultimately we were happy with the service but if you have the time ask friends or family members for people they recommend. Finally, don't wait until the last minute to turn on your furnace so you don't fall into the desperation trap.
