the Cost of Kennels and Boarding

At the kennel that I used, this price was for the medium level service that includes a cage for the dog, feeding, 3 trips outside for exercise and fresh air, and an employee on the premises at all times to check on the animals. The higher level service includes a private room but is much more expensive and geared more to make the owners feel better.

Using a kennel for a pet is always very difficult because it is traumatic for the owner and for the animal. I checked a lot of places before I chose the one that I used based on the cleanliness and the attitude of the employees. The facility was pretty clean and even though the dogs were in long rows of cages there were some that were sleeping and others that seemed like they were just hanging out and waiting to be taken home to their normal bed. My dog was not happy to be left there, but he seemed healthy and happy when I picked him up. They told me that he didn't eat the first day but then ate normal after that so that is a good indication that he got more comfortable as time went by. They also gave me notes about what he did when he went outside.

Definitely leave some piece of clothing that has your scent on it so that the dog will have something familiar to relate to. Don't leave expensive toys or bring your dog's bed from home because sometimes those things get ruined or lost.
