My son's suit trousers needed let out at the waist and the cuffs needed taken down to make the trousers long enough. The alterations person took a belt loop off the waistband, loosened the waistband, and took the stitching out of the back seam of the trousers. She then made the seam allowance smaller and sewed the trouser seam closed. The wasitband was secured again and the belt loop was reattached. She took the stitching from the sides of the cuffs and let them down. She then pressed the back seam open and pressed the bottom of the trousers to remove the crease where the cuff was.

I was very pleased. The alterations person was very knowledgeable and able to help get the right size for his trousers. Her work was flawless. You can not tell that any alterations were ever made. The trousers are now long enough and fit correctly in the waist. Her work was also done very quickly. He was able to get his trousers returned in less than a week.

Ask friends for references of alterations people they have used in the past. Make sure the person who will be wearing the garment is there for a fitting.
