The tailors asked me to try on the jeans with shoes, then measured where the hem was to be taken. They subsequently made the alterations in about two days. They hemmed the jeans I brought in to the correct length and kept the original seams.

The tailor I went to did a fantastic job. I bought a pair of jeans on sale that I really liked. But, they were a bit too long. So, I took them to the tailor. I chose this tailor because they do a great job hemming. They keep the original seam. This is essential if you want your jeans to look normal and not like they were altered. When I returned for a fitting and tried the jeans on, they not only fit perfectly but they looked just like they were new. You could not even tell that they were altered at all - even by looking at the inside. And, they were the perfect length. The turn around time of two days was quite reasonable. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back.

Ask you tailor beforehand if they can keep the original seam on the legs of your jeans. This makes a huge difference! Otherwise, you can usually tell that your jeans were hemmed.
