Description of service

We got a stanard "cocker cut"; the stereotypical short except for the ears, legs and bottom part of the body.

Our dog is a bit older, and has some lumps on her body. She is also very sensitive to electric shavers, and the groomer had to use scissors to cut several areas (around her face and tail, especially).

She was dropped off early in the morning (before 8 a.m.) and we picked her up at about 1 p.m. We had to call for a reservation one day in advance.

Review of Service

Everything was superb. Our dog looked great and they were careful to avoid her bumps and other sensitive areas. We dropped her off in the morning and picked her up about 5-6 hours later. The only negative is that they require you to pick them up a bit early. It would be easier to get her after work, but they want the dogs picked up before 2-3 in the afternoon, generally.

Tips

We use a small, local groomer rather than a large chain. We have found that if you have an older dog, or one with special issues (such as sensitive areas or lumps (which are very common in older Cocker Spaniels)) you get extra attention from a smaller groomer. We have tried bringing our dog to large chain stores, which are cheaper, but they have regularly ignored our requests for special treatment and irritated the sensitive areas on our dog.
