I had a satellite installation company run a second line for my DVR in my bedroom. I wanted to be able to record two programs at once and in order to do that this was required.
Review of Service
The first installer that came out quoted me a price completely different from what his boss had quoted me. The price was five times as much. He showed up four hours after the scheduled time block. When he showed up, he first told me that he wasn't told what he would be doing and he had to go get more parts. All he needed was a piece of cable which I saw in his truck, he just seemed out of it. When he returned and quoted me the new price I had him leave. I spoke to his boss who then came the next day and completed the job himself for the originally quoted price. That service was to my satisfaction.
Tips
Make sure you feel comfortable with the installer. Most satellite companies contract out their installations so you never know what you're going to get. These people have full access to your home so keep an eye on them. If they try to change the price on you at the last minute, they are probably trying to rip you off. If you contact the satellite provider you signed up with, they usually won't stand for it and will do a lot to make you happy. That included giving you free services and credits on your account.
