Description of service

The price was for a full inside and outside strip and repaint along with removal of popcorn ceilings and smoothing textured plaster walls, and repair of various minor damage. The price was for paint and ancillary supplies, and labor for a crew of ten at $30 per hour per worker.

Other services offered by the company include faux finishes, epoxying concrete floors, murals, and other paint work as requested by the clients.

All their work is warranted for 3 years.

Review of Service

When we first looked at having our house repainted we figured it'd be pretty expensive, but we didn't know how long it would take. We'd done most of the other remodeling while living in the house, and painting was really the last thing to do before all the bits and pieces like cabinets, fixtures, and finished floors were reinstalled. We'd been working hard on our renovations for the past months, so when it came time to paint, after realizing we had no talent for it whatsoever, then finding out it would take about a week to do, we decided to go on vacation.

We had the usual panic attacks about leaving strange men alone with our stuff, but the feelings passed because we'd already had strange people going through our house since renovations began, and we managed to enjoy ourselves on our vacation. The day before our vacation was over, we got an email with pictures of the completed project from the foreman. All the colors looked right on the inside and out, and the popcorn ceiling was gone, as we'd requested. The remaining details we had to wait until we got home to see.

We ended up driving past the house because we weren't used to the new exterior color. The wood siding had been stripped, the paint chips cleaned up from the ground (though we did find a few, it was latex paint, so we weren't concerned) and the paint on closer inspection was immaculate. Inside was much the same, the walls and ceiling had been smoothed to an almost glass-like state, the edges of the contrasting color trim were perfect, there were no drips or runs or brush marks anywhere (even on window glass), it didn't even smell like it had been painted.

We couldn't be happier.

Tips

This is a very expensive service so shop around and get referrals for the company's previous work. Particularly the stuff that's a couple years old because that will tell you how well it holds up.

As with most contractors, don't pay the full amount up front, just for the sake of incentive to finish the work. "Half to start and the other half when its done" has done well for us so far.
