the Price of a Perm

I had a perm done on very long hair. The cost was $125 and included a bottle of special conditioner for perms.

I'd never had a perm before so I wasn't sure what to expect nor do I have anything to compare this experience with. As far as I know it was a good experience. I didn't like the way the chemicals smelled but I guess there's not much to be done about that. I also experienced some stinging in my scalp but was told that mild stinging is somewhat common.

The person doing the perm was great. He showed me several pictures of the style we decided on to make sure we were on the same page. He explained that for the first few days it would be extra tight but that it would loosen and look better. He also gave me very specific and detailed instructions on how to take care of it once it was done. He even gave me a bottle of expensive conditioner to use.

If you have a sensitive scalp, a perm may not be for you. Also, because you can't wash your hair for a few days afterward, it's a good idea not to have it done right before a big event.
