the Price of a Periodontist

This is the price I paid for a periodontal cleaning. My dentist referred me because I have trouble with receding gums as well as numerous areas with sensitivity, mild pain, and swelling. The cleaning included a thorough cleaning and a session talking about what my options are for my specific problems. X-rays and other diagnostic measures were unneccessary because my dentist had already sent these to the periodontist. The entire session took about 45 minutes from start to finish.

I was worried because I had heard horror stories about painful visits to the periodontist's office. However, this visit was basically pain free! The staff were all extremely nice, helpful, and really made me feel totally comfortable. Unfortunately, my next visit includes a deep gum cleaning which is supposed to hurt alot. I am not very worried though because this periodontist has truly made me feel at ease with the entire situation.

If you are someone who has a deep fear of dentists, periodontists, or any procedure involving your teeth, try to visit with the periodontist before the actual appointment. Most periodontists will agree to do this since this type of fear is so common. Also, make sure you feel totally comfortable with the periodontist as this will make your experience less frightening.
