Description of service

I bought a membership to a national association connected to my college major. The organization connected thousands of professionals in the United States who work in this field. The fee included a subscription to the organization's monthly newsletter, notification about open management positions across the country, and discounts at many national conventions. The membership also included access to the organization's website, which keeps members informed about related news, and access to the forums, where it was possible to communicate with thousands of people and learn about others' experiences.

Review of Service

I felt that this fee was a little high for what members receive in return. I would have liked to have been able to pay a lower price just for a subscription to the newsletter or the website. I never used the discount convention pass, because the price was not reduced enough. Most of the conventions were hours away and the admission fees were usually still over a hundred dollars, even with the membership. Also, I feel that the membership perks were geared more towards those in management or other high-ranking positions.

Tips

Unless you are going to use all of the perks of a membership, it may be wise to save your money. It may be possible to find a professional organization that is free or low-cost.
