Description of service

Home delivery of groceries that is operated by a locally owned chain of supermarkets. Order must be phoned in two days in advance of the delivery date. Payment may be by personal check upon delivery or by debit or credit card at the time the order is placed. The order may include produce, packaged foods, and deli items, as well as wine, beer, soft drinks and frozen foods. At present, the service is experimenting with email as a means of submitting an order, with the store following up with a phone call to confirm the order and verify the means of payment.

Review of Service

Placing the order by phone was very simple. The employee who took the order was efficient when it came to clarifying brands, sizes, and quantities of the items ordered. Delivery time was within the two hour range I was given when placing the order. Delivery person was courteous and professional. The service also provides complimentary blank grocery lists that can be used to write in brand names and amounts, which come in handy when it is time to place another order.

Tips

Always check on the rate for the service before placing an order. Some home delivery services charge a percentage of the total cost of the order, which can get expensive. Prepare your list ahead of time. Ask if the order can be faxed or emailed as well as phoned in. Stick with services that will provide you with an approximate time for delivery, so your whole day is not shot.
