the Price of Online Banking

We have online banking service through a local bank. The online banking service is free, there is no fees attached. We also get a free ATM card. I believe our bank has the most complete and competitive online banking service.

The service is great. We get direct deposit which is very convenient. You can make deposits and free withdrawals at just about any ATM in the U.S. You can also make withdrawals at places such as a convenience stores. Online, you can view check images and make unlimited free bill payments. Accounts are fully FDIC insured.

Other pluses include no minimum balance needed and You can view up to 18 months of account statements, which is nice in case you make a mistake in balancing your checkbook. You can really view your statement in two different ways, one is by viewing it by a PDF document. The other way is to search by dates, this is especially nice if your searching for a transaction and you no the specific date and don't want to search through all the transactions for that month. You can also view your checks by using the feature to search by your check number. If you do have checks that you need to cash you have to mail them in to the bank which can take a little longer and become a little frustrating if you need the money fast.

I would recommend that you research the company to make sure there are no hidden fees. Also make sure that you can view things such as account statements and check images for at least a few months in the past. Being able to view check images is nice just in case you need a copy of a check, you don't have to run to the bank and you can print it directly from your home printer.
