Description of service

The cost of a visit to the emergency room is very expensive without insurance. It can run way past $1000. Typically you do not know what's wrong with you if you are just having random pain. I had severe stomach pains and had no idea what was wrong, I had to be rushed by EMS to the hospital and there were numerous tests that were run on me to see what was wrong. Come to find out after numerous tests it was my gall bladder that was infected. But it took a lot of expensive tests and blood work to find out. The cost for tests and blood work was just over $1000 for just being at the hospital for 3 hours. If they had to do more tests it could have been double. I received the bill and the cost for the blood work was $250, the cost for the ultra sound which is a type of x-ray was $500 and just to be seen by the doctor was another $250. So, the total for the three hour trip to the emergency room was $1000.

Review of Service

The cost for emergency room service is way too expensive if you do not have health insurance, but it is necessary and you can not be without this service. Its expensive but necessary.

Tips

The only tip I would have is to look into some affordable health insurance. I had to obtain health insurance before I could afford the necessary operation that I needed. My operation without my insurance would have been $25,000. My insurance covered 80% of that.
