the Price of Italian Cooking Classes

We took a cooking class that took place in the kitchen of a very famous local Italian restaurant. The total cost was $250 per person with a minimum of 4 people and included dinner. The whole process took about 5 hours.

We took this class in a very expensive, fine dining Italian restaurant. They set a table up in the kitchen and we were able to watch the chef prepare several meals for their customers. He talked us through everything he was doing. After we watched him cook a few meals, we were able to go to our own work station and do our best to replicate his meal. Once we were done he came over to put the finishing touches on our meals. Our party then sat down at our table and ate while watching the kitchen staff deal with the very busy dinner rush.

Obviously, this was a very expensive experience but it was definitely worth doing once.

This was definitely a very interesting experience. However, because the chef was so busy preparing other meals we didn't get quite as much instruction as we would have liked.

Opportunities like this can be a ton of fun but be careful about your expectations. If you're taking this type of class in a busy time at a restaurant you likely won't get much more than a great experience out of it.
