Description of service
The price was for consultation and converting an existing Sole Proprietorship into a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC). This service including filing the necessary paperwork to get the tax license changed as well as the formation paperwork (including minutes). Additionally there was consultation work in reference to an accounting system.
Review of Service
Overall this was a really scary process, the attorney knew how to handle the paperwork. There are still things that are unknown about the LLC process, but the attorney hasn't stopping helping yet. The state has since made some changes that have taken away many of the advantages of the small business LLC. The attorney was unaware of upcoming changes, so he can't really be made responsible for this. This was the major use of the attorney's office, but there have been several other instances where the attorney's office has been a major asset to the business.
Tips
Make sure you really want to go through the headache of converting from one business type to another. Some of the headache could be resolved by knowing more about the process and more about the advantages and disadvantages of each business model. If it isn't involving a business conversion, and it is just about business knowledge the attorney's office knows how to keep a small business out of trouble.
