Description of service

I recently had satellite internet service set up at my home. The reason I had switched is because they were running a special for $10.00/month for internet for 15 months and after 15 months it went up to $20.00, another reason is that cable prices for internet continue to rise. That $10.00 is not included in the price of my installation however, that is an ongoing monthly fee, the price of installation is as below:

Installation of satellite dish - $0.00

Installation & purchase of PC modem - $20.00

Labor for all installation - $0.00

Tip for installation Tech - $10.00

Review of Service

The service was great but it was quite lengthy. They had to run new wires for installation and had to test the system, which took the better part of the day. The technician arrived @ 8:00am (believe it or not, right on time) and worked until 2:00 pm only stopping for lunch break. It took a while for them to get it installed and tested but the tech was very professional and very competent. I was very pleased with the experience.

Tips

For home use the satellite internet is just fine. It's as good speedwise as DSL and is much cheaper than cable. However, I don't recommend it for a business solution for the reason of latency. The download times are great but upload times are not as fast, which makes using the service for work VPN connectivity and IP Phones not very practical. But for home internet usage I give it a thumbs up.
