I got a shampoo and a haircut, along with styling (not that I went along with the styling suggestions after that) with some very expensive styling products.

The haircut was $60, plus $10 tip.

This particular hair stylist came highly recommended about two years ago, and I have found him to be the only person to give me a haircut I really liked since I was 18 and left for college. He has moved salons twice in the last two years, apparently because he doesn't get along with the other stylists. He does have a rather abrasive personality, but is a hair genius.

My hair often can't decide if it is straight or curly, and tends to get frizzy and big if it is not cut well. This stylist is able to make my hair look really good - short or long - and keep it looking good for six months or more. He wants me to come back every three months but I usually go six to eight months and it still looks good.

I've recommended this person to friends and he makes everyone look great - no matter if they have straight or curly hair, short or long, they come out looking really good.

Get recommendations from friends about something as personal as hairstyles. Also, ask the stylist if he or she is experienced in cutting your type of hair, whatever it is. Bring pictures, but make sure you ask the stylist if he or she can make your hair look like the style in the picture.
