the Price of Interior House Painting

As part of our ongoing redecorating project, we got quotes from a few local companies and then hired one of them to paint two standard size bedrooms. The rooms were already painted with kids' designs, so they had to put two coats of white paint on all walls and the doors. For the price of $600, they painted the walls and doors and provided all of the necessary materials such as dropcloths, tape, brushes, ladders, etc., except for the paint, which we selected and bought.

Painting is one of those projects that almost anyone can do themselves, but we decided to hire someone so that we could avoid the frustration and major time investment that we knew would be part of the activity if we tried it on our own. We wanted to change the bedrooms to better reflect the ages of our kids, so we went with an off-white color and the painters did a very nice job taping the room and protecting the carpet so that there were no spots or spills that we noticed. The price was not the lowest quote that we found, but we liked the customer-friendly attitude of the owner of the company, and it worked out very well. We were satisfied with the service and cost of the project.

If you have the patience and time, I would suggest doing your own painting, but if you decide to hire someone, be sure to check on them regularly so that you can see if they are careful in taping and covering the room, and if they put on the two coats of paint that you have paid for.
