the Price of Piano Lessons

I pay for weekly piano lessons at a rate of $25.00 per hour. I have been doing this for years. My lessons typically are early morning and include, 10 minutes of me warming up on my own, while my instructor prepares us both coffee, and then we talk for a while, then he finally teaches me something. I suppose it's kind of a paid friendship.

What can i say, my instructors is awesome! I've been going to his house every Wednesday for five years, and he has just become a part of my life. At the core I still get what I am there for: he teaches me a lot and keeps me practicing and learning. My style has grown significantly over the years, and for me the little focus it brings to my life is worth it's weight in gold. Also...he makes good coffee, and uses some fancy syrups to sweeten if. I like him.

Music is the most unify force in my life. It shapes the way I think and feel, and I can't imagine a life lived without it, or it's pursuit. If you are looking for a way to bring a little academia to your life without draining your funds or limited time, go back to your youth and study an instrument. There are many instructors who love teaching, find one who you really click with and just dig in. I don't think there is a more edifying pursuit in life.
