Description of service

After I graduated high school, I wanted to continue to learn and play the clarinet, so I signed up for lessons to help me continue. My teacher is in graduate school to learn to teach high school music. She comes to my house to teach, although she offered her home for the same price.

Review of Service

Although my teacher isn't a professional clarinetist, and her skills aren't much better than mine, I really enjoy playing with her. We work on challenging music, we both get to improve our skills, and she shares helpful bits of musical theory and occasional advice of how to better play a selected song. Having someone else to play with and a set time to play every week really helps me keep my skills sharp while improving them.

Tips

Unless you're playing something that many people play, such as guitar, piano, or voice, it may be hard to find someone who is an expert to teach you. However, the point of instrument lessons isn't always to learn from an expert. You can benefit just as much from having someone to play with, someone who can help you choose good music to play, and someone who keeps you accountable for learning new things.
