Description of service

My partner and I decided we thought it would be cool to take a jewelry class together. We shop at a local bead shop and found out that they offered classes on making ceramic jewelry. We signed up for the class together. The price included two $60.00 fees for the class itself and two $20.00 fees for the supplies needed for the class. We were given all we needed to make two necklaces each and the price included the firing of the ceramic beads we made. The class lasted four hours and, at the end of that four hours, you turned in your hand made beads to be fired. Two days later, you were able to go back to the store and pick up your beads so that you could complete your necklaces with the assistance of the clerk on duty at that time.

Review of Service

I loved this class and had a blast, but I thought it was REALLY over priced for what you got. I felt that the $60.00 fee should have included the supplies at the very least. I did come away with two gorgeous necklaces that I am going to give away as Christmas gifts this year, but I do not think they look like they cost me $40.00 a piece. The teacher was really fun and the other students were a blast too. It was really fun on the social level more than the jewelry making level. I had fun working with the clay and being able to see my creation once it was completed too. I would recommend this sort of class to anyone who likes ceramics or pottery type classes. If you are doing it for fun and can afford the high price, it really is a great time.

Tips

Know exactly what you are paying for. My biggest complaint was with the price of this class. For four necklaces, we paid $160.00. That is a bit high to me and I still feel a bit of remorse over that. However, I had so much fun during the class that I would almost do it again just for the fun of it. I would also be sure you know what you are getting into with ceramics. It was a bit messy to deal with and there is no instant gratification at the end of the class, as your beads have to be fired yet. That two day wait was hard!
