the Price of Trumpet Lessons

I took 4 trumpet classes. They were each 1 hour long. The total for the 4 classes was $95, though they would be $25 a piece if taken one at a time.

I had taken trumpet lessons as a kid and was interested in getting started again. However, I wasn't really sure where my skill level was, as I'd been rather good in grammar school but had not played for many years. I found a local retired gentleman who offered classes for $25 a piece or a block of 4 classes for $95. He would not accept a tip from me, though I tried.

These classes were wonderful. Because it was just him and I, we could concentrate on the specific things that I needed help on. He was very patient and encouraging and overall I had a lovely time with him. I had also looked into classes at local music schools and the like, and they were easily twice the price that he was charging.

For kids I think it's probably best to give them lessons in a group setting. This allows them to have the socialization aspect as well as learning an instrument. However, for adults I think one on one classes are the best.
