Description of service

In September 2007 I was in the market for an accounting clerk. I hired a temporary from a local agency. perfect fit with my company. In order to retain this individual's services as a permanent full time employee, I negotiated a one time fee of $900.

Review of Service

After hurricane Katrina, qualified, responsible employees were hard to come by. I decided to use a temporary service to find someone. They sent me an individual who was extremely well spoken, intelligent and qualified for the position. She was proficient in all office automation and had about 1 year's experience in accounting. I was able to train her on our system in no time and she is now one of our best employees. We've since used the same agency for hiring a permanent secretary and another accounting clerk.

Tips

When hiring someone from a temp agency, at some point you have the option to keep them as a permanent full time employee. There is usually a fee involved. The agency will quote you a fee, but don't be too quick to agree to it. You can easily negotiate a much lower fee than quoted. The original fee I was quoted was $1800 and I was able to negotiate it down to $900.00. Also, if the agency sends you someone you are not happy with, all you have to do is call them and let them know you don't want that person sent again. You don't have to be the one to tell the worker that it's not working out, it's the agency's responsibility, not yours.
