the Cost of an Optometrist

I needed a complete eye exam including glaucoma testing and dilated exam.I wanted an exam for both glasses and contact lenses and was interested in getting multifocal contacts since I currently need reading glasses in addition to correction for severe myopia. My regular optometrist was not available for the day I needed to go in.

The service was incredible and I ended up preferring this optometrist to my regular one. She was extremely personable as well as being thorough and professional. The glaucoma exam was done both directly and indirectly due to my extreme nearsightedness and the whole exam was rigorous. Trial lenses of two different brands were provided and a trial pair of multifocals was ordered for me.

This office will do as many subsequent visits and trial pairs of contacts as it takes to get a good fit without any additional charges. For me it was several visits. Each time I was treated very well and the emphasis was on service. The office has both evening hours and is open on Saturday and Sunday which is incredibly convenient and is next door to a discount provider for glasses and contacts that is cheaper than ordering online. Even the support staff were unusually pleasant and helpful. (the receptionist and optical technician)

The price for this great office is about $25 or more less than the average here. I know because I called and did a lot of comparison shopping. However, because of the level of care, I would pay more to use this provider in the future.

By all means call to get a good price, but the service really counts. Your eyes are too important to compromise and if anything seems unprofessional or uncaring, I'd just end the visit and leave. If you can, get recommendations from friends and family.
